Lake Wildwood - Live Where You Play The historic tourist destination towns of Grass Valley and Nevada City are minutes away, with many interesting shops, restaurants, inns, and local wineries offering daily tours and tastings. This area is also popular for its large and varied performing and visual arts community, along with many opportunities to visit some of California's most beautiful state parks, hiking trails, and local lakes. Bicycling is a popular pastime, and our county hosts both the Tour of Nevada City and Amgen Bike Races. We are in the heart of the historic Gold Country, where the great California gold rush began in 1849. Many interesting sites remain from that time, such as Bridgeport State Park and Empire Mine State Park. Just around the corner is the 87-acre Western Gateway Park with wonderful facilities including bocce and pickleball courts, disc golf course, covered and open picnic areas and a 3,500 sq. foot stage pavilion used for concerts and other gatherings. There are play structures for children, a swimming creek and many other wonderful facilities. The area provides excellent health care facilities. Grass Valley offers Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and Auburn offers Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital. Lake Wildwood is a proud member of the local Chambers of Commerce. |
