What is Defensible Space?

A.  In the 1980’s, the term “defensible space” was coined to describe vegetation management practices aimed at reducing wildfire threat to homes. Defensible Space refers to areas between the house and an oncoming wildfire where the vegetation has been modified to reduce the wildfire threat and provides a better opportunity for fire fighters to defend the home.
