CLUB OVERVIEW

The Wildwood Literary Review is an on-line publication produced by the Wildwood Writer’s Workshop, an activity sponsored by the Lake Wildwood Recreation Committee under its Life-Long Learning Program. The community of Lake Wildwood is located in Penn Valley, CA which is in the beginning foothills of the Sierra Mountains.

The purposes of this club is to:

  1. Provide a low cost and easily accessible forum for Nevada County, CA writers to display and distribute their work.
  2. Encourage creative writing and thoughtful community discourse.
  3. Encourage more reading of a variety of material for all visitors to this site.

The literary works displayed herein have been certified by the authors to be original work. Any opinions expressed in the literary works are those of the authors and do not reflect the opinions of the Recreation Committee, the Association Management Staff, or the Board of Directors of the Lake Wildwood Homeowner’s Association.

Material posted to this web site is screened and approved for publication by an Editorial Board. See the guidelines for submission of material in the section of this web site entitled “Submission Guidelines.”

New literary content to this site will be posted several times each year. Contributors are encouraged to submit suitable material for the site to the Editorial Board at the following e-mail address: WLR2015@Yahoo.com

In addition to this literary review,
the writers group also has monthly sessions -- held every first Monday of the month, excepting holidays. These include discussions on good grammar and punctuation, the technical aspects of writing, what editors look for, and the critiquing of members' stories. We meet in the Community Center, Manzanita Room, from 2 to 4 p.m.

In the few years we have spent together, we writers have helped one another hone each others' skills, producing stories and poetry that is well written from both technical and aesthetic standpoints. Most importantly, we have a good time and feel that we are making a genuine contribution to the art of writing. Although many of us have been writing since youth, nevertheless, it is a joy to witness the improvement in writing skills that many of us have made. And the story content is wonderful, too, drawing from our varied life experiences. If you are interested in joining our group (or, simply visiting), please contact me, Lew Istre, at lescoeurs@att.net.
