PURPOSE

The Public Safety Committee is to:

  1. assist the Board of Directors in areas relating to the security and safety of Lake Wildwood and its members, residents, and visitors.
  2. evaluate security, safety, fire prevention, and emergency response and investigate additional specific topics and areas, when requested by the Board.
  3. advise the Board in the general areas described and provide recommendations on policy and procedures while maintaining appropriate standards of privacy, confidentiality, and non-disclosure.

STRUCTURE

  1. Seven (7) members, responsible for selection of their chairperson, vice-chairperson, and secretary.
  2. Subcommittees may be appointed, as needed, to complete any assignments.
  3. Security Chief, who has no vote.
  4. Board of Directors Liaison, who has no vote.
  5. LWA Safety Officer may be requested to attend meetings, if needed for specific subjects.

 

OPERATING METHODS

To accomplish its purpose, the Public Safety Committee shall undertake responsibility for the following actions and such other assignments as shall be made, from time to time, be made by the Board of Directors:

  1. Minutes and roll call of each meeting will be taken and recorded. Written copies will be submitted to the Administration Office monthly.
  2. When directed by the Board or requested by the Security Chief, meet with the Security Chief to review operations.
  3. Provide recommendations to the Board through the General Manager and Security Chief for revisions to the LWA Emergency Plan.
  4. Recommend to the Board policy and procedure changes needed to improve or enhance the security and safety of the members.
  5. Assist with establishing priority items to be included in the annual budget.

 

RESTRICTIONS

  1. Investigations involving the use of Association personnel and/or the use of any operational information must be done with the knowledge and approval of the General Manager or the Board..
  2. LWA and particularly the Security Department, due to the nature of its operation, has confidential records which are not for public use. Any information supplied to the committee and appointed subcommittees, other than statistical information normally supplied to the public, must be kept confidential and disposed of properly.
  3. The committee is not authorized to act on any issue other than in an advisory capacity to the Board.
