The eighth hole offers a front nine preview of the fourteenth.  The men's handicap on this par 4 is 5, red/gold handicap 2. Yardages are 400 (blue), 389 (white), and 355 (red/gold).

The fairway is relatively flat, but slopes away and to the right from the tee.  There is out-of-bounds on both sides which will normally not pose a problem.

The fairway is large and accommodating until it narrows just before the creek.  A fairway bunker  will come into play only if you're high on the right hand side slope.

Big hitters, like David Duval or Laura Davies, would work a slight fade and place the tee shot well past the bunker and on the slope just short of the creek.  From that position and a downhill lie, it is an easy short iron into an elevated, large, and slightly sloped, green.
