The first hole is a short and "easy" par 4 from an elevated tee. The men's handicap is 13, red/gold handicap 14. Yardages are 304 (blue), 286 (white), and 253 (red/gold). There is out-of-bounds on the far left and the driving range is on the right.

Tee shots to the left will bounce back to the fairway UNLESS they are caught by tree roots, leaves, pine needles, twigs, or a gopher with an adverse disposition.

Tee shots to the right will result in a ball lost to the driving range. Tee shots on the cart path can produce a terrific result, i.e., a 30-foot pitch shot for a possible eagle -- yeah, right.

The key to success is to be virtually anywhere in this straight fairway for an unstressful second shot to a large green. Don't get stymied by the large tree in front of the green on the right.

Hall-of-famer, Julie Inkster, "shows us how" by putting for birdie.
